Project Overview
The Village has long been committed to protecting and preserving our Lake Michigan Bluff, an iconic and vital part of our community’s landscape. Over the years, erosion has posed significant challenges, threatening not only the beauty of our shoreline but also the safety and stability of the parkland. In response, the Village has taken proactive measures to safeguard this natural asset through a series of stabilization projects.
Our efforts began with the 2018 Lake Bluff Stabilization Project, an important first step in addressing erosion and preserving the bluff’s integrity. This foundational project set the stage for the more comprehensive work we are undertaking today.
The 2024 Lake Bluff Revetment Project represents a major investment in long-term stability. Supported by federal grant funding, this project will create a robust revetment system designed to protect the bluff for generations to come.
Each project is part of a larger, ongoing strategy to protect the bluff from the damaging effects of erosion, preserve the natural beauty of our shoreline, and ensure the safety of public spaces. As we move forward with these efforts, we remain dedicated to securing the bluff’s future, providing an enhanced and safe Lake Park, and maintaining the ecological health of the area.
