Revetment Project
The Village is undertaking a critical revetment project to stabilize the Lake Michigan Bluff, located east of Sheridan Road between Pratt Avenue and Enos Avenue on Village parkland. For years, Village staff have closely monitored erosion in this area, and now, with grant support, we are able to move forward with protective measures.
- 2020: The Village Engineering Department began collaborating with a Wisconsin State Hazard Mitigation officer to secure funding for bluff stabilization.
- 2022: On September 20th, the Village received confirmation that the project was awarded funding through FEMA’s Legislative Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant program.
- 2023: K. Singh & Associates, Inc. was contracted to conduct on-site evaluations, manage permitting and approvals, and design the revetment.
- 2024: In July, the project was put out for bid and awarded to Veit & Company, Inc.
- 2025: The construction work was substantially completed by the start of 2025.
This project, made possible by grant funding, ensures the long-term protection of Lake Park, safeguarding it for future generations. Some areas of Lake Park will be fenced off in early 2025 until restoration and replanting work occurs in spring.
We appreciate your patience during this important work and look forward to welcoming you back to a safer, more secure Lake Park.
