The Village Clerk/Treasurer Department is the front line for many of Mount Pleasant’s most important civic responsibilities. Its representatives are often the first point of contact for citizens who are reaching out to Village Hall.
Village Clerk
The Village Clerk administers elections, ensures Village Board agendas and documents are properly noticed and available to the public, and maintains applications and appointments to serve on boards and commissions. The Clerk is the notary for the Village who certifies official documents, and is the records custodian who processes open records requests. The Clerk also issues licenses and permits for a wide range of items, from dogs to party tents. The Clerk administers the oaths or affirmations officials must make to serve on the Village Board, in the police department, or in other positions in Village government.
Village Treasurer
The Village Treasurer oversees all cash payments made to Village Hall and supports the Clerk’s operations. The Treasurer provides accurate, timely collection and recording of real estate taxes by drafting and distributing the annual real estate tax bills, and managing the collection of those bills and tax settlements. Questions regarding Real Estate Property Tax Payments should be directed to the Treasurer.
