Electronics Recycling

Many electronics can no longer be put in the trash; instead, they must be recycled as hazardous waste. Electronics contain valuable materials that can be recovered through responsible recycling. Electronics also contain hazardous materials such as lead or mercury, which may be harmful to human health or the environment if not properly disposed of.

Household batteries should be kept out of trash and recycling bins, but they can be disposed or recycled in other ways. When compacted in the back of a recycling truck, household batteries can sometimes explode and start fires that damage equipment and put people at risk. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources provides guidance on how to safely dispose of the many different types of household batteries, and many can also be brought to local businesses or to the Village's annual Electronics Recycling Collection events.

Electronics Recycling Collection Event

The Village participates with Legacy Recycling to offer electronics recycling.  The event is open to all residents and businesses in Mount Pleasant and neighboring communities. The next E-Cycle Event is on September 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Alkaline batteries – AAA, AA, and other forms commonly plugged into toys, remote controls and smoke alarms, for example – are NOT accepted.
