Join the Mount Pleasant Police Department
The Mount Pleasant Police Department is actively recruiting experienced police officers. This is an opportunity to advance your law enforcement career in a forward-thinking department that serves a growing community.
The department is currently home to 56 sworn officers and 10 administrative staff. It offers generous salaries and benefits and welcomes individuals with prior law enforcement experience. Our lateral transfer program expedites the hiring process and lets new team members continue to enjoy the salary and leave-time benefits earned through prior experience with other law enforcement departments.
The Police Department offers a diverse range of specialties and robust training to help officers learn new skills. The department has K-9 officers, positions in regional task forces that focus on gangs and drugs, drone operators, motorcycle patrols, a school resource officer, and a tactical team. Training is provided by several state-certified instructors within the department. Onsite facilities include a firing range that further enhances our training efforts, as well as a fitness center.
The department’s culture focuses on communication, transparency, and balance. Leadership is focused on proactively addressing public safety to strengthen the overall health and wellness of our community. Internal practices and capabilities are constantly evolving, and support by policy-makers of the Village means the department is well-equipped with modern vehicles and the latest computer and communications technology.
The Community We Serve
The Police Department has built a positive reputation among citizens, businesses, and philanthropic groups in the Village of Mount Pleasant and offers several opportunities to work within the community. Mount Pleasant is a village of about 28,000 residents that encompasses 36 square miles. The Village is growing thanks to major investments by employers such as Microsoft Corporation. It offers the amenities of any mid-sized city while also maintaining the natural areas and open spaces of its agricultural roots.
The Police Department partners with local schools and nonprofit organizations for initiatives, including Shop with a Cop during the holiday season, a Citizen Police Academy with an active alumni group of volunteers, and the Lakeside COP House for our Community Oriented Policing program.
