Mount Pleasant operates a seasonal Compost Site free for use by Village residents. Residents may dispose of acceptable yard waste items at the Compost Site during hours of operation. The Village does not collect yard waste curbside. View Leaf Ordinances for the Village.
Upon entering the Compost Site, residents will be asked to provide proof of residency to the Site Attendant. Examples of proof of residency include, but are not limited to, a current driver's license with Mount Pleasant address, a utility bill, or a real estate tax bill. To expedite future visits, residents may request a car window sticker from the Site Attendant for the season.
Location and Hours
The Compost Site is located north of Highway 20 (Washington Avenue) at West Road.
Seasonal operating dates are April 1, 2026, through November 18, 2026, weather permitting.
Hours of operation are:
- Wednesday: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The last vehicle is admitted at 5:45 p.m.
- Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The last vehicle is admitted at 3:45 p.m.
- The site is closed on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in observance of Independence Day
