Paving Program
The Village maintains about 133 miles of local streets and prioritizes paving work based largely on their age and current condition. By planning ahead for five years and tracking the condition of all Village streets, the Department of Public Works recommends which sections of street should be repaved in the upcoming construction season.
The department also inspects storm and sanitary sewers located underneath streets that are scheduled for repaving, and completes any needed repairs on those underground utilities while the road is under construction. This avoids more costly future repairs that would require parts of the street to be removed as crews fix the pipes, and patched afterward.
The DPW recommendations for the annual paving program are given to elected officials on the Village Board as they set the paving budget for each year.

Summerset Drive & Timmer Lane
- Tentative Construction Schedule: Begins April 2026
- Project Summary: The Mount Pleasant Sewer Utility plans to begin work in April of 2026 to relay approximately 1,100 feet of sanitary sewer main located on an easement between Summerset Drive & Timmer Lane. The sewer is being relayed to increase system capacity and help prevent system surcharging/backups in the upstream sewer lines.

Chicory Road
- Tentative Construction Schedule: Phase II from late 2024 until fall 2025
- Project Summary: This project is being implemented jointly by the Racine Wastewater Utility and the Mount Pleasant Sewer Utility District to address potential capacity issues in the sewer system and help prevent basement backups and sewer overflows. The Mount Pleasant Sewer Utility has previously conducted a thorough inspection of all public sewer mains and manholes, as well as an investigation of private sewer laterals and illegal downspout and sump pump connections to the system. Two separate projects are planned for the improvements. Both projects will be initially funded via a loan through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Phase I: Completed in 2023. Approximately 5,000 feet of sanitary sewer have been replaced with a larger-diameter pipe.
Phase II: Construction commenced in late 2024 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2025. It includes an underground storage tank to handle larger flows that occur during severe rain events that may exceed the new sewer's capacity. - View the Project Exhibit

Deerfield Drive
- Tentative Construction Schedule: Spring 2025 until October 2025
- Project Summary: The Stormwater Utility will begin constructing a new storm sewer along the south side of Deerfield Drive and in its intersections with Chapel Lane and Newman Road. This storm sewer is being installed to alleviate local flooding issues on private property along Chapel Lane by capturing additional stormwater runoff in the storm sewer. The proposed storm sewer will replace an existing, undersized sewer in the same location. No full road closures are expected along Deerfield Drive except briefly when a sewer is extended under Deerfield Drive north along Chapel Lane.
